People complained that it "just wasn't Foreigner" without Lou Gramm. It generated very little in the way of commercial and critical attention, and this was blamed primarily on the new singer. After Lou Gramm quit Foreigner the band hired a new singer and released an album called Unusual Heat. I will never understand what people want. Nobody wants to read yesterday's news, until it becomes HISTORY. I have never understood the so called "fans" who let a band die a miserable death in the LAND OF HAS BEENS instead of keeping the band afloat and alive. Now Lou Gramm has left the band yet again for a solo career which will probably go exactly nowhere, and Mick Jones has found a new lead singer. This album should have sold 8 million copies and produced 3 hit singles and propelled Foreigner into a new age, but it didn't do any of that. Just listen to "Under the Gun", or "All I need to know", or the great "White Lie", and you'll hear what I mean. It really doesn't matter who plays with them, the core members who retain the band's sound and credibility will pull them through with their spirit intact. But, I always thought if the core members of a band were still there, the ones who gave a band it's sound in the first place, then they would always be that band. Like a lot of bands that began many years ago, Foreigner has gone through a number of changes. I thought they were great then, and thought they were just as good on Mr. ![]() I have been a fan of Foreigner since hearing "Long, long way from home" many years ago. Still very much a recommended listen for long-time Foreigner fans. All of the songs on this album have that Foreigner touch-even if it isn't quite the classic "rocking" sound of the old stuff. "Running The Risk" is another anthem that just tugs on the heart strings. "Until The End Of Time" is an unbelievable ballad that should have been a huge it for some reason it barely dented the charts! "All I Need To Know" is a heart-felt touching and yet somewhat uptempo song about a friendship on the verge of becoming a romance. I sometimes wish the album had more rockers like this, but it is impossible not to fall in love with many of the other songs. "Under The Gun" was the first track I heard-on rock radio. The melodies are astounding, and Lou Gramm could still belt 'em out at this point-although his voice was clearly a bit lower by this time. What a blessed relief it was to hear this album in the middle of the alternative rock dominance of the time. ![]() I love just about everything this band has ever done, and this is no exception. ![]()
